The 2012 Gentlemen's Cup

Atlanta, Georgia
October 12 & 13

Lords (5) def. Nobles (3)

The inaugural Gentlemen's Cup was such a success that the captains (Connor Fee & Chip Cavanaugh) opted to run it back in Atlanta at the Stone Mountain Golf Club. Given the 2011 edition of the Cup ended in a tie it only seemed fair to bring it back to ATL for the grudge match.

For the second annual G-Cup the field expanded from 8 golfers in 2011 to 12 golfers in 2012. Additionally the number of individuals traveling for the event increased from 3 to 5 as the stories of the incredible weekend spread to new players and geographies.

While the format and locations may have stayed the same, the outcome was much different with the Lords posting the first ever Gentlemen's Cup win. Scoring early points on the Scramble day, the Lords came out of the gate strong and held their lead across two days. Newcomer Justin Ferira went 2-0 for the Lords as the difference maker.

October 12, 2012 - Scramble
Stone Mountain Golf Club - Lakemont
(1 point per match)
Score at the end of Day 1: Lords 2 - Nobles 0

Traditional two-man scramble format was the choice for day one of the 2nd annual G-Cup. With winding fairways and water on a number of challenging holes at the Lakemont course, the Lords took advantage of having multiple attempts at each shot, winning both matches.

While the Nobles returned 3 players on day 1, the Lords only returned a single player - demonstrating that fresh blood was a welcome change for the Lords team.

October 13, 2012 - Singles
Stone Mountain Golf Club - Stonemont
(1 point per match)
Score at the end of Day 2: Lords 5 - Nobles 3

Day 2 on the Stonemont course at the Stone Mountain Golf Club was an even split for the teams with the Nobles and Lords each earning points from three matches.

While the second day of the 2012 G-Cup wasn't as exciting as the year prior, good golf, beer, and food was had by everyone, further ensuring that The Gentlemen's Cup was a tradition in the making.
